The Angel, Dartmouth
The Angel, Dartmouth is the Group’s latest addition to our collection of restaurants which was opened in January 2011.
Set in arguably the best location in Dartmouth in a stunning historic building with views over the estuary, The Angel, Dartmouth has a long history as a fine dining restaurant and was one of the UK’s original destination restaurants in the 70s & 80s under Joyce Molyneux.
In more recent times John Burton-Race ran the Michelin-starred restaurant as The New Angel until his departure in 2010. The 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group acquired the Restaurant in Dartmouth along with its supporting small hotel’s business in October 2010 and re-opened the restaurant in January 2011 under its new name “Restaurant Angelique.” The group employed the imagination of the residents of Dartmouth to inspire the new name.
In January 2012 the talented Stephen & Joanna Bulmer took the helm in Dartmouth to run the restaurant. Given the numerous changes planned for the restaurant Stephen & Joanna felt it appropriate to change the name. “The Angel, Dartmouth” was chosen to reflect the more relaxed and informal style of the restaurant as well as being a better reflection of Stephen’s classic, carefully cooked dishes using the best local and seasonal produce.
